Ofsted Report 18 February 2025

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Governors,

As you know, Ofsted carried out an ungraded inspection on Tuesday 18 February and I am finally pleased to be able to share the outcome with you:

Borough Road Nursery School has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection.

I would like to thank everyone, including our fabulous children, who supported us through this process.

The tone and focus of the inspection was really quite different to that which we experienced in 2020 at Borough Road, and which senior leaders experienced at George Dent in 2024. This time inspectors spent the majority of the day within the nursery rooms involved in discussions with children and educators and of course observing the nursery day. They noted that:

The school has high expectations for all children. These expectations are reflected in the school’s curriculum. Children rise to the ambitions of the school. This helps the school ensure that children have the key knowledge and skills ready for their next steps in education.

The children were an absolute delight. They love having visitors and are naturally curious, keen to find a new playmate and eager to show visitors around. The inspectors commented that:

They spend the day with smiles on their faces. Children are curious and respectful. They learn and play alongside their peers with care and kindness.

We really couldn’t ask for more from our children and nursery team!
