Executive Head Teachers Letter July 2024

Dear All,

I can’t quite believe we have reached the end of another school year. I would like to thank each one of you for your support throughout the last year/couple of years. As a head teacher it is a privilege and honour to meet your children and watch them grow. At this time of year there’s a lot of joy in seeing the creative, confident, and capable children, they have become. Of course, this occasion is also tinged with a little sadness that the time has come for them to spread their wings and fly. Thank you for choosing Borough Road Nursery School, we are going to miss them all very much!

I know there is a long summer ahead, however, I hope they continue to be excited, inspired and innovated to learn because learning is, and should be, lots of fun. Remember it’s the little things that make the difference; watching the clouds move across the sky and wondering how that happens; using a knife to butter their own toast; mastering the toilet; learning to dress and undress and pack a bag; making a collection of leaves/pebbles/shells; pressing some flowers; having a picnic in the garden/park or at the seaside; going on a bug hunt; recycling and remodelling to create something new from something old; making invisible marks with a bucket of water and a paintbrush on a dry day; making mud pies; and visiting family and friends.

It has been a challenging year for the Nursery Team, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our educators, and support staff, for everything they do – they are my inspiration, because it doesn’t matter what personal challenges they may face, they arrive each day with a welcome optimism, and a determination to ensure each child is made to feel loved, and cared for, and is given every opportunity to reach their potential.

The nursery continues to grow in popularity, and we expect to be very busy in September. With this in mind, we have made a few staffing changes. We are pleased to announce that Eve, who has almost completed her Early Years apprenticeship, will take on a new role as an Early Years Educator in Seedlings. Joining her in Seedlings will be Hannah, Rebecca, Susan, Hollie and Ashleigh, who are moving from Saplings to join Karen, Lottie, Libby and Melissa. Sam, Lisa and Alison, will be joined by Sue, Kerrie, Leah and Kodia. We know these changes will help with transition.

The school offices are closed during the school holidays, but if you wish to get in touch with us you can email: adminbr@darlingtonnurseryschools.org.uk or call the Holiday Club mobile on 07435257507 and a member of staff will be able to take a message.

Finally, many of you will be back in September and we look forward to seeing you on our return, Tuesday 3rd September. Have a wonderful holiday 😊

Kind regards

Helen Dummett
