Welcome back 7/9/2020 GD
Good Morning Everyone,
As we begin our first full week back in school, I would like to thank all parents and carers, for their lovely comments and feedback. On behalf of the governors I would like to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to ensure everyone is welcomed back into school as soon as possible!
I would also like to take this opportunity to say goodbye to Katherine Noble who has been running our holiday club and after school provision since January. Katherine has left to take up a new role at St Augustine's and we wish her well. We do have some other staff news to share as we have a number of staff who have joined us this term. We are pleased to announce that Jessica Walecki is joining us full time in Orchard Room with Otters, Sophie Gugi and Kerrie Watson have joined us in Foxes on a part time basis and Grace Lowe has joined Woodlands room with the Squirrels. We will be sending out a class news letter with photos of the teams so that you can put names to faces.
It has been a real pleasure to start to welcome the children back; staff have worked hard to ensure that transitions are as smooth as they can be, during these very strange times. We do have a lot of new children starting this term. Whilst we are not able to welcome you (parents and carers) into school, we hope that you have taken the time to share the short videos we have created with your child. Hopefully, this will help to reassure you and them that nursery is an exciting place to come and play.
It was lovely to see the children's happy smiling faces and notice their obvious joy in meeting their friends again. We have been so impressed with the way in which our new children have settled in,and our returning children have adapted; although I guess for them nothing much has changed other than a lot of hand washing and cleaning :-)
Staff are working hard to manage the staggered drop off and pick up times alongside our session offer. I know that the new times are not ideal for everyone, however, we are trying hard to follow health and safety guidance and advice, and make sure that our nursery is as safe as it can be for staff and children attending. We are mindful that our children and staff need to feel happy, safe and secure!
Thank you to all those parents who have remembered their fruit and £1 contributions. We want you to know that these contributions are still gratefully received. All fruit is washed and peeled before being shared with the children.
You were so very good this week, however, there are likely to be more parents and children arriving over the coming week so don't forget social distancing measures as you arrive and depart school. Orchard children will line up at the gate to their garden, and Woodlands Squirrels and Hedgehogs will line up at the main gate. All those attending before and after school for Orchard Room (Otters) should do so through the car park and if your child is attending Woodlands (Squirrels) you should enter through the gate, up the ramp and ring the bell.
Over the next few weeks we will continue to review our plans and preparations to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. We will try to keep you updated as best as we can.
Should you have any questions, queries or suggestions you can contact us via messenger, email and phone.
