Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

The Federation of Darlington Nursery Schools provide an environment in which all children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are supported to reach their full potential.

We have in place a designated a member of staff who is the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo)

Our SENDCo is: Deputy Executive Head Teacher - Cheryl Theakston

She can be contacted on 01325 380785 (Borough Road Nursery School) or 380 802  (George Dent Nursery School) or alternatively email cheryl.theakston@darlingtonnurseryschools.org.uk

Below you can read various documents and policies regarding how we support children with SEND and their families.

You can access the Darlington SEND Local Offer here

The main purpose of the Local Offer is to provide clear, comprehensive, accessible and up-to-date information about the available provision and how to access it; and to make provision more responsive to local needs and aspirations by directly involving children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities, their parents, and service providers in its development and review.

You can find an open letter to parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities from Children and Families Minister Will Quince from November 2021 here
