School Development Priorities GD

George Dent Nursery School is situated in the Pierremont ward, less than a mile from the centre of Darlington. It is the second oldest Nursery School in the country and has always been at the forefront of innovative Early Years education. Our ‘Outstanding’ reputation has been verified by Ofsted on seven consecutive occasions, mostly recently in January 2019.

This year as part of our drive to share best practice more widely across the sector cross Federation leadership has been established so that expertise and support for staff is being shared across the Federation. We have ambitious plans to ensure Borough Road Nursery School is also graded Outstanding and the Federation becomes a centre of excellence.

4.     To continue to deliver inspirational teaching and learning that ensures all our children are well prepared for the next stage in their education

5.     To continue to ensure that there is a consistent, coherent and sequenced approach to the teaching of reading and writing which will meet the needs and starting points of all children, but particularly those children working securely at or above age related expectations
