Head Teachers Update 29.01.2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope that you are enjoying the videos and photographs that we have been sharing on facebook and that they help to reassure you that your children are having fun learning with their friends.

For those of you not on facebook we have added photographs to our planning sheets, provided you have given us permission to do so, you may see your child there instead! Please check your emails for these planning sheets as they are full of tips and suggestions to try at home. If anyone wishes to make any changes to their permissions please will you contact Diane, our administrator and she will arrange this for you.

This third lockdown has certainly taken its toll on us all. Some days it feels quite difficult to feel optimistic with no immediate end in sight, but I just want to say how proud I am of the team at Borough Road and our beautiful boys and girls for remaining so positive and bringing a smile to our faces. They say a smile is contagious and it certainly is true.

If you are finding it hard to smile and need any help and support, please do not hesitate to get in touch. The Anna Freud website https://www.annafreud.org/parents-and-carers/ has tips and suggestions for parents and carers as well as a crisis messenger: The AFC Crisis Messenger text service is a free, confidential, 24/7 text message support service for anyone who is feeling overwhelmed or is struggling to cope. The service is staffed by trained volunteers who will work with you to take your next steps towards feeling better. They can help with issues such as anxiety, worry, panic attacks, bullying and depression and are there to talk at any time of day or night. If you need support, you can text AFC to 85258

As a team we realise just how lucky we are because we have a job we love and the support of each other. We have been thinking about how we can best help our community and have decided that we would like to make a donation to our local foodbanks. We thought that you might like to help us. The pandemic has meant that there has been a huge rise in the number of people and families forced to rely on foodbanks to supplement their weekly shops. They are in need of items with a longer shelf life and other staple items such as tins of soup, beans, tomatoes, fish, meat, vegetables, fruit, pasta and long-life milk.

If you have any items that you feel able to donate please leave them in the box in the main reception entrance hall from Wed 3rd February until 10 February and we will see that they are delivered to one of our local foodbanks.

As always thank you once again for all your support.

Stay safe and well

Helen Dummett
